This week I needed to design a flag for Microsoft. This flag must be simple and represents the company well.

Before sketching, I watched the TED talk video about Vexillology. He was saying that good flags are simple, and they should be so easy to remember a child could draw it. So this got me thinking of the idea of arrows pointing going towards the future. Technology is getting better by the day. I choose the color scheme because of the colors of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Here is my sketches:

I met with my classmates in the student union to talk over the company flag. I showed them the concept of the arrows pointing toward the future, and they liked it also. The colors represent Microsoft brand.

For this project, I needed to create a plan for all of the projects that I will be designing. I chose Coca-Cola as my parent company, with Dasani and Powerade as the subsidiary companies. My company plan explains what I want to accomplish with these three projects. I will create three different projects for each company.

I begin by looking up the top companies in the word. I seen that Coca-Cola was one of them. I did research on the brand where I found the message, and audience. Coca-Cola is the parent company. I then researched Powerade, and Dasani. Those two are the subsidiary companies.

I met with a couple of classmates to talk about our designs for our company plan project. I came up with something simple. They helped me choose my three company’s.

Hello, my name is Johnel McGhee. I am a senior at Valdosta State University. I major in marketing where I want to pursue a career in the business field. I was born and raised in the city of Columbus, Ga. I love Columbus, but I also hate it at the same time. I love it because I have met some incredible people. I also hate it because the city is dangerous. Music is everything to me, I honestly don’t know if I would make it through my day without it. I also am a huge fan of LeBron James. He is the GOAT of basketball. I’ve actually been a fan since I was old enough to know who he was. Basketball is my second favorite sport. My first love will always be football. It hurt me to know that I had to cut my career short with me being diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. This happen to me around my 7th grade year. It was hard to adjust, but I had the support I needed to get through it. I had to find a different route that I wanted to do in life. I found that in fashion. I started collecting shoes. I have been doing so since 2012. This is one of the reasons I wanted a degree in marketing to possible work for Nike one day. I have other hobbies like: hanging out with friends, playing the game or going to the movies. I created this blog to showcase my talent of design work from my visual media class. I texted my friends to see if I can use them as my models for my project. They didn’t mind helping me out. We set up a time, and met up to take these photos. I took a walk outside to take the photos of nature. The things I took pictures of I tried to find a cool way of taking them.

I used my iPhone X plus camera to take all these photos. I took some during the day, and I also took some in the rain. I took one photo while I was in the gym. I used Lightroom to edit all of the photos.
